hey all. well i used to play all the time with the money cheats all of the time so that my sims could be ever so rich and have everything. but now i've started a family and i'm using a strictly no cheating rule. and i can't believe how much more i am loving the game because of how exciting it is when your sims get a promotion and are able to afford more and more things. it's so cool. has anyone else experienced this or am i just crazy?? well crazy yes but i think myself more eccentric.
I'm a Witch. deal with it!

I used to do that, but since I earned 150,000 simoleons without cheats, I seem to have found a whole new light! I do kind of over do boolProp though=]

yeah same with the boolprop. yeah i have one family where both the adults are knowledge sims and want to have high careers, so I focused their entire lives on their jobs, they're rich now and are expecting their first child, with about 6 days to go till elder and not far from the top of their career levels. I love them to bits!

I used to play Sims 1 w/ cheats. But I agree I love getting promotions and money on my own. I love it when my Sims make enough money to buy something they want. I haven't cheated yet. I work so hard t increasing my skills just so I can get a promotion

I completely agree with you. I loved motherlode - it made my sim life much better...but soooo boring. I've stopped using and have so much fun now. I must say i'm still addicted to aging off, but i'm trying to get myself away from it...slowly

I'm with you all the way... I used to always use the "kaching" or "motherlode" cheats because I wanted to be able to provide my sims w/ the best things right away. Then I did the Legacy Challenge. From then on I've played with no cheats. It's so much more fulfilling and you feel like you've really accomplished something when they get promotions and earn money & you can buy better things for your sims and upgrade their house. It truly is much more exciting!!

I use the cheats, but I have this one family that I use the cheats, but one member is working hard in the culinary career, I LOVE THIS FAMILY! But the girl's roommate just spends her days woo hooing with her 2 boyfriends, and she now has 3 kids! They have this beuatiful mansion that take the fat boy 2 sim hours to get to his room from the kitchen! And do you know what the funny ything is? My friend and I made that family, and we made ourselfs, my friend's clone is the one with the three kids........ hehehehe

Whether I use the money cheat or not just depends upon the storyline I am creating. If I want to create a family on my wealthy side of town, then motherlode x2-20+ it is. I typically use kaching 1 or 2 times when creating any family that is larger than 2 members simply because 20,000 simoleons is really stretching a budget for 4+ sims.
There's also a lot of good satisfaction from created a "self made man" type sim. My very first sim (who also has my real life name) started with no friends, a low paying job, and little beneficial items. Now he is the chief of staff, has a wife, and two children.

Yer not crazy.
The Legacy challenge did that for me (a former inveterate cheater). I've seen so many things I wouldn't have if I just continued to cheat my sims through life.
I do motherlode in non-Legacy lots for building/furnishing purposes...but cheating too much actually makes the game boring for me anymore. :o

I actually had to quit playing for a couple weeks because the money cheats made it so boring. Now that I'm getting back into it and not using money cheats, I'm really enjoying the game again. I still use boolProp to check gender preference, but that's about it. And the only reason I do that is because once I learned you could check that I started feeling guilty getting my Sims into same sex relationships and finding out they aren't in to that. Now I check first and shake my head every time at how much I've let the little people get to me!

I totally agree with you. I used to use money cheats too...but, once you get their creativity up to max, you don't need to...you can sell paintings and novels for lots of simoleons...so much more fun...and yeah, I do use boolprop too much myself, cause you have to have full energy to do all those paintings and novels...lol
Happy Simming!

The only time I cheat for money is if someone is just moving in and they don't even have the basic ammenities to survive. But I love it when a sim comes home from work and they stand there with their arms out and cheer for themselves after they make some money.
The only cheat I use is boolprop because my sims usually have large families, usually 8 people, and it gets alittle crazy with needs, so I make them all happy at the begining and try to keep their needs up.

I did the same thing. I cheated all the time...boolprop, motherlode, kaching (before motherlode), moveobjects, you name it! Then I started the legacy challenge and it was so great! My sims had twins and I thought there was no way to make it w/out cheating, but I did, and the twins are now adults, so I guess it is possible. I love getting to redecorate or add on to the house when they get enough money. I jsut saved up and completely redid their house (it is a new generation, so a new house was in order). I agree that it is much more satisfying. Weird, huh? I do reserve the right to cheat with other families, still. Mostly for story purposes.

Yeah, I'm a motherlode-aholic too, but I've started not to depend on it so much. It started with Uni, there's not much point cheating there cos in a dorm you've already got everythign you need, you don't have to buy stuff. Then she grew up, and she's now married, with two cute kids and she's expecting! It's a lot more satisfactory when you earn it all yourself...

It's a challenge posted by Pinstar(you can find it in the Challenges section) where you have to start off with a single adult sim on a 5x5 lot and try to marry them off, etc, etc. Then you start on 10 generations, but the full rules will be posted there.

At first I played it normally, then discovered boolProp and made all the sims platinum, increased relationships, top job etc. but I found it boring and I've gone back to doing it without cheats.
One thing which annoys me though is the aging thing. I created a sim for myself and I started a family. I don't want to get old, and I don't want any of my children to either, but I want someone to get old and die so I know what happens. At the moment, everyone in the family is an adult or younger and no-one has died, I always have enough aspiration points for the elixer of life so they don't get old. Maybe I should test it on one of the wifes/husbands of my children or something. Seems quite weird how I'm the same age as my great-grandchildren...
