After Sims3 released, people around me started to play the Sims3 and unintalled the Sims2. But, till now, I am still playing the Sims2. That is not because the Sims3 is worse than the Sims2. In my mind, the Sims3 is certainy improved a lot compare with the Sims2. The reason that I can't abandon the Sims2 is The Sims2 has many marvelous functions and stuffs added by the EP and SP, and these functions and stuffs are not in the Sims3.
I had installed all the EP and SP fof the Sims2 and happily enjoy them. If the Sims3 had all these functions and stuffs, I will certainy buy it.
I wish there will be a EP and SP which contains all of the Sims2 EP and Sims2 SP for the Sims3.

If they were to make each succeeding sims game the same as theone before it, there would be no reason for people to try it. I'm sure there are alot of things not included yet in sims 3 that sims 2 has just as they changed sims 2 from the original. We all just have to find our niche in the version of sims that makes us happy. No matter what one we play, we are still all simmers.

To LucasMorris1972: Actually, I can't agree with you. Because I think The Sims3 can not only has all the functions and stuffs that the Sims2(including EP and SP) have, but also the Sims3 has other new EP and SP, that doesn't barricade you enjoy the new EP and SP.

I totally agree with you! I love the Sims 2, and not only are the Sims 2 games more affordable than the Sims 3, which costs about $50, but it's also more fun in my opinion. I'm very close to having all the EP and SP for Sims 2 (I just need Glamour Life Stuff and Family Fun Stuff :] ) and I also agree about the Sims 2 EP and SP for Sims 3.

It's perfectly fine to stay with TS2 as long as you're having fun with it. Lots of people have stayed with TS2, or come back to TS2 for the same reason that you're still here. By the time TS2 seems old to you, TS3 may have enough EPs to make it more enjoyable for you.

Maybe you are right. I believe there will be more new functions in the Sims3. but I don't know whether the Sims2 EP and SP will be added in the Sims3, that is what I am caring about.

I'm actually enjoying my Sims 2 more than I have in ages, due to a lot of things, but mainly because now Sims 3 is my "project" where I achieve things and I am still learning, when I play Sims 2 its for fun. Its brought a new freedom to my game.
Also Sims 3 keeps crashing, which is because my computer hasn't got the minimum specs, so it means I can't actually play it to the full potential. However with Sims 2 there are no such worries.
Its also great to go back after a short break and although there are things you do miss the game is a lot simpler to play, mainly because although there is a lot in it each time we had 6 months to get used to each EP.
I consider myself very lucky in that we picked up a new computer very cheap in the January sales, so that I now have Sims 2 on one machine and Sims 3 on the other, so that I have even had the slightly surreal experience of playing both at the same time!
I find both games have their own advantages and disadvantages and it depends what mood I'm in which one I want to play. I must admit Sims2 is winning at the moment after almost a month being totally into Sims 3.
I am not ready to abandon witches, plant sims, vampires, zombies, Big Foot, the genie and aliens and probably never will be.
However good Sims 3 becomes unless there is a way to import Sims 2 families I don't think I would stop playing Sims 2 because my neighbourhoods took a lot of time and effort to build up and to do it all over again would be so time consuming.
Even after all this time I am still finding new combinations. For instance my main family of witches which includes many aliens now has its first vampire wizard married to an alien witch. I am also working on an alien plant sim and a plant sim who I want to be a werewolf. There are so many possibilities still.
In summary - its a game so if you enjoy playing it might as well do it.
FreeTime is causing alien invasion. Keep discovering new things tucked away here and there.AL is
magical and I love that. Wish I could have a butler in real life.System restore is my BFF!!I spell
better than I type, honest. Nerdy, dorky, geeky and proud.Love Chocolate.

Well, if you are happy playing The Sims 2, that's great.
I like playing the Sims 3 myself, and I'm really looking forward to World Adventures. The more I read about it, the more I can't wait to get my hands on it. But that is just my preference. I still have all my Sims 2 games in case I get bored with The Sims 3, but so far it hasn't happened.
And I agree with whoever said TS3 has a lot of stuff in the base game...it's just that if you're used to playing a certain way, you won't be aware of all the new interactions, simply because you're so used to doing things in a certain order.
And anyway, where is it written that you have to abandon your favorite game for the new and shiny? It's probably best that you don't, because then you would feel let down when you realized how different the two games are.

I definitely see where you're coming from. I did buy Sims 3 but DID NOT uninstall Sims 2 and all my EP's (I don't buy the SP's since I use CC). I got so bored with Sims 3 that I stopped playing and decided, hey, why not go back to Sims 2 for a while! Of course - when World Adventures comes out I do plan to buy it in hopes that I can get back into Sims 3 for a while! I'm not saying Sims 3 is terrible but I was so used to having all these EP's and so many things to do in Sims 2 that I've come to be bored currently with Sims 3.
I will admit - I missed my EP's for Sims 2! Being able to go to university, buy pets, etc etc. It's lovely to have my hot tub back and my instruments! Oh, and clubs! My goodness, my simmies in Sims 3 have been so bored and lonely! haha..
I definitely agree that you don't need to abandon an old game for a new game (that is unless your computer can't handle having both! - which seemed to be a common occurrence on the boards).
