Royal Kingdom Challenge 2.0 Mood:

Do your Sims have a longing for days gone by? Do they want to shout `Huzzah! Long Live the King and Queen!? Do they have a hankering for good old-fashioned servitude? Then it is you duty to transport them back in time several hundred years to live in Good Old Simland! Simland has a King and or Queen that presides over all of their loyal subjects. It?s up to you to make the strongest Royal family that you can. The fate of the Kingdom depends of you!
The Goal: The point of this challenge is to make a themed neighborhood with a royal family, nobility, merchants, and peasants/farmers and reach 5 generations with at least one family from each category.
- To begin you must make a new neighborhood
- Make 1 King and Queen for your royal family in CAS
- Make 3 or less families that will become the Nobel class
- Make 2 or less families that will be the Merchant class
- Make 3 or less families that will be the Peasant class
Rules for the Royal Family
- All money cheats are acceptable
- You may use boolProp cheats for building their castle
- You may download a castle for the royal family is you don?t want to build one
- The first-born son of the current King and Queen will become the heir to the throne and must never move out of the house except to go to university
- The heir to the throne may only marry a Sim from the royal family or the Nobel class, but they may have lovers of any class (They can marry as close a relation as the game allows)
- The heir to the throne must be the legitimate son of both the king and the queen.
- Any illegitimate children of the Queen would not be a prince/princess but could marry a non-heir Royal or Nobel
- If you have university, all royal children must attend, but they can drop out after at least completing freshman year (except for the heir to the throne, he must complete collage)
- Women of the royal family can't have a job or live alone
- Don?t forget to use any influence points that a Royal Sim gets. Members of the Royal family should be able to influence their subjects

Rules for the Nobel Class
- You may use the motherlode cheat only two times
- You may use boolProp cheats for building purposes only
The first-born son will be the family heir and must never move out of the house except to go to university
- Only legitimate children can become heirs
- The heirs may not marry below their status
- Women are not permitted to have a job
- Children of the Nobel Class are encouraged to attend university

- The heirs may not marry below their status

- You can only use one elixir of life per Sim
Rules for the Peasant Class
-You may not use any cheats (except boolProp for building purposes only)
- Anyone and everyone are encouraged to have a job since they will have very little money
- Although the eldest son traditional becomes the heir, any of the children may inherit their father?s house and fortune and the heir must never move out of the house
-Children of this class are not permitted to go to university since peasants did not receive much of an education.
-Since they are the lowest rank, peasants may marry anyone except royalty.
-You may not use the elixir of life on a peasant since they would not live as long anyway

General Rules
- Unless otherwise specified you may not use any cheats. No mood or aspiration cheats and no hacks that alter a Sims mood, personality, aspiration etc.
-To keep all the families and classes in the same generation try to play each family for a specified number of days and then move on to the next family. Play one family from each class before you move on to the next.
- Roll a dice (or pick from a hat) to determine the aspiration for teens.
-To avoid confusion try to stop your Sims from having an affair until after the heir is born
-Since reliable birth control was not used in the old days, you must choose `try for baby? each time your Sims woohoo.
-Women always take the status of their husbands so make sure it is always the man who proposes
- Illegitimate children below Royalty will take on their mother?s class
- You should assign a hair color to each Class for the townies so you know which class they belong to (example: All townies with red hair could be considered of the merchant class). However since Townies do not have a family tree they are less respectable and should not belong to the Royal or Nobel class
- NPC?s are servants so they may only marry Sims from the merchant class or lower
-You may use move_Objects on only to decorate and move Sims if they get stuck or there is a glitch
-You are encouraged to use custom content that fits the neighborhood theme. Pick a theme and try to make your neighborhood fit that theme as much as possible.
-Try to use only objects that fit within the theme, this means no TV?s, computers, electric guitars, etc. if you are doing a historical theme for your neighborhood. You may however use objects in the small electronics section such as fire alarms. You may also use the smallest stereo in the Royal and Nobility houses since they would have had paid musicians to play for them at dinners and parties.
-You may not delete gravestones
-You may use all reward/aspiration objects unless stated differently. If doing a historical theme, try to hide any modern looking rewards in a basement or attic.

Career limitations:
-Royalty would be limited to Artist, Natural Science, Paranormal, Politics, Science, Military and Show Biz if they went to college. If they didn't, they would be limited to Politics, Military and Science
-Nobles are the same as Royals if they are College Grads, non-grads limited to Athletic, Military, Politics, Science.
-Merchants, even if going to college, would be limited to Business, Medical, Politics, Science, and Culinary
-Peasants would be limited to Criminal, Medical, Military, Slacker and Culinary
-ONE child of each class per generation (not per house, only per generation) could go to ANY job.
Peasants still would only get the 10 basic jobs, but they could do any of those.
Consider a genius Peasant becoming a Top Athlete or Politician, a Black Sheep Royal becoming a Criminal. Oh the stories you can tell...
*You must play the chance cards every time. No exiting without saving if you don?t like the results.

OPTIONS
- If medieval isn't your style you could also play this challenge with another theme such as Renaissance, Regency, Victorian, or fantasy.
- If you want an even harder challenge you could create two kingdoms by having the second kingdom in a downtown neighborhood attached to your original neighborhood. However, this means two sets of everything, 2 royal families, two sets of nobility etc.
-You can add a church/monastery or abbey to you neighborhood that you can send Sims to that you don't want to marry. You still must play these Sims. Sims of the Church are considered a separate class and must be added to your play list. You must play Sims of the Church as often as Sims of the other classes.
- You can start the first King and Queen as young adults but you can not begin playing the other families until they graduate and move to the regular neighborhood.
- To keep track of who belongs to what class you can have each class have a specific hair or skin color (ex. all peasants could have brown hair or green skin).
- You can add one household for the town witch or wizard. The heir to that family would have no cheat restrictions and would be able to attend university in order to get the paranormal career but otherwise would have to live by the rest of the peasant rules.
- If you can?t decide which theme to choose, try advancing the time period every one or two generations. Then you could start at medieval, then renaissance, colonial, regency, victorian etc. If you find the custom content for it you could even start with an ancient period like Egyptian or Roman.
Nightlife Update
- Your original families can not live downtown, but non-heirs that start their own families may live either in the regular neighborhood. Also as was started in the Options section, you can create a second Kingdom in your downtown area.
- You can make vampires if you want them. However vampires don?t age so remember that an heir to a family can not inherit their parents place until they are dead. Also with the quickly growing population, you don?t want to many Sims hanging around far longer than their regular life span. SO you might want to use the vampire feature sparingly.
-Use of the matchmaker is encouraged since many cultures use to rely on matchmakers to find a suitable match for their children. The drawback of the matchmaker is that you often don?t get one of your playable Sims as a match. A Nobel or Royal Sim should not marry a Sim of unknown parentage. A good bloodline is very important.
-Gravestones can be moved to a community lot however there needs to be a separate graveyard for each class
- Only the Royal and Nobel classes are allowed to have carriages (Cars) but they must have a garage to make them less discreet
- Mr. Big and The Diva can marry Merchants or non-heir Nobility (They may not have a known bloodline, but they come with a large `dowry? so money conscious merchants are encouraged to marry them)

Scoring
* Count up all the points when at least one family from each category reaches 5 generations.
If you keep track of points you must play by all the rules, but you don?t have use the scoring system.
Please be honest.
1 point for each generation reached
10 points if every heir for all classes is the first born son. *See below
1 point for each PLATINUM grave
1/4 point for each family friend the royal family has
2 points for each heir to the throne who marries another royal
1 point every time a Sim fulfills an 'impossible' want
1 point for each lot that has all career reward objects possible that are on each lot
1 point for each different color ghost you have on the lot
1/2 point for each set of natural twins
2 points if you manage to collect ALL the different types of ghosts on a lot
-2 point for each Sim that was purposely killed
-1 point for each Sim that marries below his or her status
-1 point for each infant, toddler or child that gets taken by the Social Worker
-1 points every time a household member drops into aspirational failure, prompting a visit from the Sim Shrink.
1 point for every Merchant who marries a Mr. Big or Diva
-1 point each time you change a Sims aspiration using the ReNuYu reward

University Bonus Points:
1 point for each Sim that graduated from collage
1 additional point for graduating Summa Cum Laude (4.0 GPA, no less)
1 point for each heir who becomes a member of the secret society
-1 point for each heir that drops out of collage
1 point if your Sim enters and graduates college as a vampire.

*If you want to make a society run by women then you get the point is all heirs are first born daughter
? If you don?t have all of the Expansion Packs simply ignore the rules or bonuses that don?t relate to you.

This challenge is very flexible so it can fit your personal tastes. With this challenge you can unite all the families in a neighborhood and give it some sort of structure and goal. If you are not playing for points feel free to bend the rules a bit to fit your playing style, but don?t be afraid to try something different then you normally do!

Wow, nice job it sounds awsome and different. I'll get started right away. First things first, download all the custom content I can ha lol.
Though I did have one question, how do you get the royal heir to marry another royal if all other royals are his siblings?

Which classes are allowed to have maids and gardeners and those kind of npc's?

There is another way if you have Nightlife, when you add a downtown, make a custom downtown and make it into another kingdom. Then you can have another royal family that can intermarry.

I'm glad you all are interested. I have been having a blast playing with my Kingdom. When I got Nightlife I took out my downloads folder for a while so I couldn't play with he families in my kingdom and I really missed them. They are all my favorite families now.

Oh and one more question. In the area of cheats. I hear that boolProp can be used to change clothes of sims, can this be used to change a sims clothing to make apporiate to the time and class of the sim (not all of my sims can afford to go to town and buy new wardrobe for their whole family -- especially a pesant family with 6 children) But I want them all dressed to fit.

Sure, you can use boolProp to get period clothing for the children as they get older for the families that can't aford it. However the families that can aford it should go to a community lot to buy clothes since that's more realistic. Which cheat does that? I have only used boolProp for building.

kk thanks, i think i'll do the double kingdom though i'm probably getting in way over my head :) but it sounds fun. still trying to find some decent male medieval clothes, got tons for girls but only some peasant garb for guys.
oh the 'boolprop testingcheatsenabled true' works for wardrobe, once you type in the cheat hit shift and click the sim, go to more and it'll have a plan outfit option. but it only lets you do everyday, for everything else you'll have to get at a comunity lot.

A fascinating idea! I don't have the time, unfortunately, to devote to such a challenge. But I would like to mention that I have TONS of Medieval/Renaissance/Fantasy skins available and I can try to do custom orders too. I also have a Renaissance Faire-ground lot available. Please feel free to help yourselves, and let me know if there's anything I can add!

Sims get pregnant rather easily. I have never see a barren sim. Just keep woohooing till you hear the little
luliby. I am usualy able to have a boy by the third pregancy. So that shouldn't cause too much of a problem. Just remember that they always have to 'try for baby' when they woohoo because they don't have any sort of birth control.
Merchants a sort of like wealthy, freed peasants with more freedomes and rights. How well they live depends on their income. So they would probably live in a manor style house. Not a castle, but a medium to large house.
Noble's can live in a castle or large house. In the rules you can find how much money you are alowed to add to their funds which will help them get started in apropriate housing, and they can move to larger castles as they earn more money.

Just remember that they always have to 'try for baby' when they woohoo because they don't have any sort of birth control.
They had some kinds of birth control "back then"; just nothing very reliable ;)

OMG, this is what I've been looking for! I've recently suffered a loss (see siggy) and have been looking to rebuild. I'm glad you found this challenge! Downloading medieval things for the challenge is half the fun! Don't forget to check out ModTheSims2. There is a TON of great stuff there. You can also check out my sims site, Fanciful Sims http://www.fancifulmind.com/sims/ .
It's not really a good idea to use a triplets or quadruplets hack since you have to 'try for baby' every time you wohoo you might end up with a huge population explosion with that hack. If you really want to use it you can, but I wouldn't suggest it. Having a peasant family with twins is hard enough as it is.

This is a very fun challenge. You are encouraged to use any service NPC's for the families of the Royal and Noble class. They had tons or servents in real life. You can even move in some sims of the lower classes into their households to cook and clean for the families full time.

It is against the rules for a Noble Heir to marry below his status, but if you had a story line in mind that you really wanted to do, then it would be ok for you to let an heir marry a peasant once in your kingdom.

there is a plant at simlogical that will allow you to make a townie family temporarily, then boot him/her back as soon as you have them fully dressed - don't use it with downtownies, they loose all their money.
There is also a mirror (by Merola, I don't know the site name) you can use to take control of any sim (on a comunity lot) forcing them to buy appropriate clothes - they will use the funds of the family you use for the visit, so you could make a "throw-away" sim and let him equip all the townies.
(would that be breaking the rules?)

No you don't have to count points. (I don't even keep track of them). I just put them there for the people who like counting points or feel like they will cheat if they don't keep track.

I'll have to try thoes methods. So far everything I have tried has failed to work. The plant you are speaking of sounds like the cheat in boolProp that makes anyone temporaraly selectable, but that doesn't work because when you go to plan an outfit for the townie there is nothing available except their naked body, even if you take them downtown and but new clothes for them.

There is a clothing rack at ModTheSims2 that allows you to change townies clothing. I have it on my own computer and it works fine. I don't have direct link to this clothing rack, but you can find it by searching with *clothing rack*.

Thanks for letting us know. I actualy ran across that just a few days ago but I haven't tried it out yet. I had my doubts about it but if it has worked for you that gives me hope. Anyway I'm not too worried because soon with the new EP you will be able to suggest outfits to customers that they will buy, including for townies.

Eager to try this, but I have a question-- What is supposed to keep the peasants poor? I can take a sim from nothing to a fortune in one lifetime, so I foresee a lot of rich peasants after the first generation. I think I may add an optional rule limiting peasants to the first few rungs in the careers, like the poverty challenge.
I also like the idea of dowries, so I think I'm going to force the family of each unmarried girl to purchase an item of a certain price that she can place in her inventory and take with her to her new home. That way, female children will cost the family, making boys even more valuable.

I use a hack called 'Money Order' where the peasants send 15% of their net worth (not cash, net worth) to a noble, 25% to the king in 'taxes' and 10% to a Bishop for their Tithe to the Church of Sim.
Merchants pay 2 different nobles 5% each, 20% to the King, and 10% to the Church
Nobles pay 15% to the King and 10% to the Church
Royals pay 10% to the Church.
Peasants end up paying 50% of their net worth EACH FRIDAY (well, starting with the second friday) which makes it VERY hard to gather money, lol.
You can also use the 'familyfunds' cheat if you have nightlife. I like the idea of Dowries, but with those, the family who recieved the dowry got to spend it, so it is still hard to make them poor, lol. Unless they keep the object and never sell it. I can see Venus statues on top of all the graves in the backyard, lol.

This seems like fun and I've only started it. I have a king and queen, and one Noble family. Well, I forgot to make the husband and wife of the Noble family married before leaving cas, I thought no biggie I'll just build up their relationship. I move them on a lot. They just start talking and the king and queen come over. Everything is going ok, until they start teasing and poking. I though oh no. Now the king and queen are not getting along with my first noble family. Ugh! Why couldn't I just marry them in cas. I think I might have to start over.

I have no siggie.

Hehe, it looks like your having a dramatic start to your kingdom! I have forgotten to give sims relationships in CAS before. You don't have to start over, they just need extra attention when socializing so they don't do anything stupid like many sims are prone to do. I had a sim that wanted to give everybody a hug when they fist met but no one liked his extra friendliness.

King Henry just died,
his only son , Edward, is to young to rule,
Queen Catherine is now the dowager princess,
the oldest daughter , Mary, is old enough to rule,
Elizabeth will be soon,

Is Mary allowed to rule until Edward is an adult?

Yes, a very young king will need a trusted family member to rule untill he becomes of age but they are not called a King or Queen, arg, I forget the title they have, I will edit the post when I remember.
